  Osteoporotic Fractures

Fractures are the clinically significant sequelae in patients with osteoporosis. The cumulative lifetime fracture risk for a 50-year-old woman with osteoporosis is as high as 53%.15 Osteoporotic fractures are most likely to occur at sites of low BMD. Clinical complications of fracture include pain, deformity, postural changes (vertebral fractures), disability, deconditioning due to physical inactivity and changes in self-image.16
